Luke Lerdwichagul, born on May 24, 1999 in Australia, is a Thai-Australian creator known for his work in machinima and animation. From a young age, he was drawn to YouTube and Super Mario machinima, launching his first parody blooper video titled “The cake is a lie!” on May 7, 2011. This early fascination laid the foundation for his creative career. Starting as the voice behind his own alter-ego SMG4 in his channel’s SMG4 series, Luke lent his voice to numerous characters—Shroomy, JubJub Boopkins, various Mario figures like Peach Toadstool (including her singing voice), Wario, Old Man Hobo, Po, SMG3, and other minor roles.
As founder and series director of the SMG4 channel and co-founder and Chief Content Officer (CCO) of Glitch Productions, Luke played a pivotal role in its explosive growth—from around 100,000 subscribers in early 2014 to over a million by the end of 2016.
Signature Voice Roles and Characters
Beyond voicing the SMG4 character and roster of supporting roles in SMG4, Luke also contributed additional voices in projects like Meta Runner and voiced the character Mash in Sunset Paradise.
Creative Style and Distinctive Traits
Luke’s creative style blends parody, humor, and video game culture, with SMG4 rooted in meme-driven machinima and evolving into richly animated original stories. His voice acting is versatile, covering both comedic and character-driven roles, reflecting a blend of machinima origins and refined animation.
Behind the Scenes: Writing and Directing
As series director of SMG4 since 2011, Luke shaped narrative tone, visuals, and pacing. He also directed all seasons of Meta Runner, showcasing narrative depth within gaming and sci-fi themes. In Murder Drones, he took on editing duties, among others.
He co-created Meta Runner with his brother Kevin, bringing in writers like Jasmine Yang. Through Glitch Productions, he’s collaborated on projects featuring diverse talent, contributing to community growth within digital storytelling.
Future Plans and Upcoming Projects
Glitch Productions continues evolving; while Murder Drones concluded in August 2024 and later arrived on Amazon Prime Video in May 2025, upcoming projects like The Gaslight District are in development. Luke’s continuing contributions in directing, editing, and voice acting suggest ongoing involvement in new animation.
